India’s 66th Independence Day

I express my warm wishes to every Indian on the occasion of  India’s 66th  Independence Day.

I remember the day, last year when I came to AIT ......for the first time outside my home land and was invited for the flag hoisting ceremony by Indian Association. I felt deep gratitude to all those people who were involved in organising such auspicious event.

Flag hoisting that too in a foreign country builds a sense of belongingness among us. A belongingness which blossoms from the depth of hearts to bring the consciousness of being one. It’s not just making a flag to fly but to ponder ourselves about the reason behind this independence we are enjoying today. It is a reason to think does this freedom really makes any sense in our daily lives. It is a reason to consider our freedom at the stake of losing it. It is a day to realize the importance of several sacrifices done for making this day. It’s a day when India has freed herself from the shackles of British rulers. It is a day that challenges to establish ourselves into more organised, more committed and more self-reliant country in the world.

As India’s Independence Day, It compels me to think of our country’s past, present and future. A past where our country has taught the world how to live through its vast spiritual knowledge & wisdom ,a past where several lives stood up to teach us how to snatch our freedom, a past where many people who involved in making our country proud of its long heritage and culture,  a past where we are continuously creating ourselves for the better and sustainable future. A past which illustrates highs and lows of our political & economical state of affairs and many more.

Now we are into a present which challenges to learn lessons from terror attacks, a present that confronts still with socio- evils, corruption, illiteracy , unemployment and  socio-political mishaps and a present where several people are still struggling for a square meals a day, a present where still farmers commit suicide, on the other hand, this is a present where India stands on the top in IT enabled services , a present where India is best in launching low budget satellite and has reached the moon , a present where automobile industry has seen a tremendous glories and a present where India has witnessed the expansion of  emerging technologies at a rapid pace and a present where India is one among the five nations to built their own intercontinental ballistic missiles , a present where it has Asia’s biggest solar park and many more

A future where India is going to witness bullet trains, highest working population in the world, centre for global business and foreign investments, a future where India will send its first humans into space, a future where every citizen will be literate, a future where every individual can have their livelihood and a future where technology will satiate the ever growing individual needs, a future which will bring the true meaning to the word “Independence”. A future where we all will be leading life of pure spiritual beings which is our goal and reality.
A true Independence in social, political and economical state of affairs & technology.
Finally I wish to say that it’s a day to judge where we fit in the growth and prosperity of our country. A day to rethink and reconsider our values and views about our nation and the responsibilities towards it. After 65 years of Independence still we have many issues left unsolved, which are required to answer before it’s too late. Every country has some or the other issues but we can’t let them go, we all have to come together & work closely to solve  each and every issue. And this can be achieved when each one of us takes oath to bring back those golden days where only love moves the world and every person sees god in the person next to him.

Lets us remember the words of “Gurudev Rabindernath Tagore” from “Gitanjali”
“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action---
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.”

Let's celebrate India's Independence Day : Honor its Martyrs , Revel in its Culture & Diversity and take joy in Resurgent India. A day to express deep gratitude to all our freedom fighters, leaders, followers who gave the true meaning of independence to us. Jai Hind...!!!
